I recently purchased a large historic house which was in need of major restoration to bring out its lovely Craftsman character. After interviewing a couple of renovation companies, I hired the Sweet Success crew for a fairly large project involving plaster repair and painting, as well as refinishing wood trim throughout the first floor. Although their prices are not the lowest, they are worth every penny if you are looking for craftsmanship and care. From my first meeting with Chris, I knew I was in excellent hands; his aesthetic sense and attention to detail are both absolutely outstanding. Everyone working on the project did a great job, the project was completed on time and on budget, and the crew cleaned things up thoroughly. This was only the first stage of the house restoration, but the work Sweet Success did has already transformed the space and brought it that much closer to its full potential. I will certainly be asking Chris and his team to return for other projects in the future.
Chris, Paul, and the Sweet Success team were amazing to work with. They are knowledgeable and passionate about their craft, and have a unique expertise in old homes that is hard to find. They masterfully restored four fireplaces and renovated a stairway, including installing a new, huge stained glass window where there was previously a boarded up window. We appreciated the care, detail, and cleanliness they showed while working in our home. We are very happy with the finished product and highly recommend them to others looking to restore and update an older home.
We used Sweet Success on several projects since we’ve bought our older home in Bloomfield. They always take the time to work with you to get the results you want. Plaster repair, fitting new doors into oddly sized doorways you name it! The care and craftsmanship is next level. The crew is always friendly polite and respectful. 10/10 will use them again and for years to come.

Chris is a master craftsman who always does his work to the highest standard. He has done both exterior and interior paint jobs for us. Chris’s exterior paint job requires very little maintenance thanks to the care with which he prepared the wood for painting. He is honest, and gives fair quotes. In addition, he deals with a problem at the source (replacing rotten wood rather than painting over it for example). For this reason, you have to be prepared for higher prices it simply takes longer to do a job right than to do a job badly. In addition to his other good qualities, Chris is responsible, on time, and easy to work with. He takes photos and is happy to give detailed receipts. In one case we needed to work with an insurance company and we had no trouble with their response to his receipts.”

“I hired Sweet Success on three prior occasions and after my first experience with Chris Dallaba, I knew I would hire him again. Everything went well, as expected. He and his associate repaired cracks in the concrete, power washed and sealed the driveway, walkway, and steps. He power washed a bridge, removed four damaged boards and installed new pretreated 2x4s, and applied two coats of stain. Some concrete pavers in the rear were also power washed and sealed. And as a kind gesture, he power washed the front of the house and the floor of the deck at no charge.”
